Most students experience a lot of stress while preparing for examsas both their parents and teachers expect them to get high scores. Students who feel anxious are likely to experience problems like difficulty in concentrating while studyingconfusionfeeling stressed while looking at difficult questionsfeeling blanksweatingsleeplessetc. Under such circumstances they end up scoring less than they could have. Thereforeit's extremely important for students to learn about how to overcome fearso that they can take their examination confidentlyfinally earning good grades. Here are a few tips on ways to overcome exam fear.

There are many students who take studies lightlyleaving everything to be studied at the last minute. As a resultwhen exams are around the cornerthey feel scaredas they don't know where to startand what to study. So the easiest way of overcoming this problem is to start studying much before the exam. Another common mistake that many students make is that they don't make an effort to understand the subject. When they have memorized without understandingthe chances of forgetting are more. Thereforeit is vital to understand the concept before memorizing it. In this way, you will never forget any important point. Besidesthat the exams are coming does not mean that you have to sit with your books for the entire dayand students should take regular breaks to relax and refresh their mind. Howeverthey should avoid watching too much TV and addicting themselves to the Internetin which waythey are more likely to waste time.

Apart from the tips abovehere are some points that will help students cope with exam-related anxiety. For examplebefore the examavoid studying anything new or having conversations with your classmates about what they have studied and how much they have studiedboth of which will make you more nervous. During the exam, if you get blank after seeing difficult questionsignore them for the time beingand attempt those you find easier. Once you have completed themgo back to the difficult ones.

    How To Be Green?

What does green mean? Green is more than just a color. 1.    Why green? Plants are green, and without them the Earth wouldn't be such a lovely home for us human beings. What can we do? Here's a four-step guide to being green.

Reduce It!

2. For instance, a shorter shower means you use less water and less fuel since your house uses fuel to run the water heater that warms up the water.

Reuse It!

Sometimes people call our society a throwaway society. It means that we're a little too willing to throw away old stuff(东西) and buy new stuff. 3. . For instance, if your baby brother becomes older and loses interest in his plastic basketball hoop(篮圈), why not give it to another family who has a little kid?

Recycle It!

Recycling has never been easier. Many communities(社区) will pick it up right in front of your house and some towns even require it. Recycled goods go to a recycling center, where they can be turned into new cans, bottles, and paper.

Enjoy It!

It's true that rubbish and pollution are problems, but the Earth remains a huge and beautiful place that's ready for you to explore.  4.  Go for a hike, visit local nature centers and gardens, and climb up mountains.

But before you travel around the world, take a look at your own backyard. Find a place where you could plant a tree or put in a little fruit or vegetable garden.  5.

A.Get out there and get your hands dirty.

B.Turn off the water when you're brushing your teeth.

C.It also means taking special steps to protect the environment.

D.When you use less of something, you do a good thing for the Earth.

E.You can start locally by visiting the naturally beautiful spots in your city.

F.Many times, even if you no longer need something, someone else just might.

G.Then you can watch with pride as your tree takes root and your garden plants grow.

Marathon fever is sweeping this country. In recent years, China's ever-growing passion for marathons has been triggered by its economic development and health-conscious middle class. A large number of marathon runners are white-collar workers, civil servants and business people that are keen on leading a healthy lifestyle. Government support, social participation and strong marketing by the sports industry have gradually led to the rapid development of the marathon industry, which is currently valued at 70 billion yuan ($10.77 billion). Due to its large participation and nationwide media report, marathons are considered by local governments an important part of marketing their cities. Thus, many cities list unique routes across local scenic spots and historical attractions, not only to boost people's fitness, but also to promote local tourism.

For many runners, marathons are a way of life." As we get older, the places and opportunities to meet new people decrease. I find that participating in marathons is a simple way to make friends," said Wu, who made many friends in the Xstop Running Community, a running club with 48,000 members established by Xtep, one of the leading distributors of sports merchandise in China.

"The sense of belonging and the mutual encouragement that exists within the running community are very attractive to many people. We easily befriend one another, since we have the same goal: to keep running and never stop," Wu said. Besides, a marathon can be a great way to explore new places. For a runner who also loves traveling, marathons are a solid choice. "Competing in an international marathon is a chance to experience a city or a country you've never visited before," said Meng, an experienced runner from north China's Tianjin Municipality, who often runs in London, New York and Melbourne.

There's a unique perspective that people get running through the streets of a city, distinct ancient buildings or amazing natural settings, he explained, things that somehow just can't be seen by rushing in a car. In addition, during a race, streets are often closed off so you don't have to battle traffic.

1.Which word has the closest meaning to the underlined word "triggered" in the first paragraph?___

A.motivated B.solved C.battled D.increased

2.Who is most likely to take part in the marathons___

A.John,a company manager

B.Jack,a middle-aged farmer

C.Rose,a high school student

D.Maria,a retired teacher

3.According to paragraph 3&4,which of the following statement is NOT true?___

A.A marathon can be a great way to explore new places

B.There is few traffic in the streets during a marathon race.

C.You see common sights by running through the streets of a city

D.Many people are attracted to mutual encouragement of the running community.

4.Why do local governments support the marathons?___

A.Because nationwide media coverage can make them famous.

B.Because they realize the benefits for their citizens.

C.Because local scenic spots and historical attractions can have unique routes.

D.Because they want to make people healthier and boost tourism.

If you rent an apartment in Beijing, you also rent the landlord or landlady for at least a year. It's important you find a good match because you have to deal with them in the long term. For me, it was love at first sight with the elderly couple who owns my apartment.

It was quite a tough trying to find the right apartment when I first arrived in Beijing. The apartments were either unsuitable or I find fault with the owners who looked indifferent at best and unfriendly at worst. But that all changed when the renting agent's car stopped in front of a hutong house in the heart of the capital.

I saw an elderly couple, in their 70s perhaps, waving to me. They were warm and welcoming at first glance, and when I saw them attentively hanging up the curtains in what would become my bedroom, I was just sold on the place and the owners!

Chinese people talk about yuanfen, meaning fate that brings people together. Before I met my current landlords, I thought the concept of yuanfen was overrated. A generous landlady who liked me and wanted me to move into her apartment had used the term in reference to me. But it was this lovely couple that changed my mind about the concept.

We have become accustomed to visiting each other at home. The couple's apartment is lovingly decorated, boasting a recent wedding photo of themselves taken in bridal wear. The landlord likes to smoke and sip tea, while the landlady takes great pride in her appearance.

After three years, I dare say they treat me a bit like a "daughter", despite having two grown sons, one of them close by. They give me gifts of tea or clothes, and I bring them souvenirs from my trips. A match made in heaven, indeed!

1.How did the author feel about renting an apartment in Beijing?

A.It was a piece of cake.

B.There were lots of unfriendly owners.

C.It was worth trying different apartments.

D.It was not so easy to find a suitable apartment.

2.What did the elderly couple do when they first met the author?

A.They looked indifferent and find fault with the author.

B.They gave a warm welcome and took good care of the house.

C.They liked the author and wanted her to move into their apartment.

D.They were nice and gave her gifts of tea or clothes.

3.Which one is correct about the elderly couple?

A.They are newly married. B.They are nice and easy to get along with.

C.They love drinking tea. D.They live together with their two sons.

Finland is the happiest place on Earth, according to the 2018 World Happiness Report of 156 nations.

The report, released Wednesday by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Solutions Network, ranks the countries of the world based on six different categories of well-being: income, freedom, trust, life expectancy, generosity and social support. This year's report also pays special attention to the happiness of each country's immigrants.

The U.S. dropped four spots from 2017 and landed in the 18th place, and last year's winner, Norway, came in second place — followed by Denmark, Iceland and Switzerland.

'' The top five countries all have almost equally high values for the six factors found to support happiness, and four of these countries—Denmark, Switzerland, Norway and now Finland — have been in first place in the six World Happiness Report rankings since the first report" in 2012, '' co-editor John Helliwell told CNN. '' In a division with such excellent teams, changes in the top spot are to be expected."

Rounding out the top 10 happiest countries was Canada in sixth place, then New Zealand, Sweden and Australia. The order of the top 10 nations changed from the 2017 list but the countries did not, according to the report. They were also 10 of the 11 top spots in the immigrant happiness category (including Mexico — 24th overall, but 10th in immigration).

'' The most striking finding of the report is the remarkable consistency between the happiness of immigrants and the locally born, '' Helliwell said in a statement. '' Although immigrants come from countries with very different levels of happiness, their reported life evaluations resemble those of other residents in their new countries. Those who move to happier countries gain, while those who move to less happy countries lose. ''

Other major world powers placed in significantly low spots on the list. Germany came in 15th, the UK was 19th — followed by Japan in 54th place, Russia in 59th and China in 86th.

The report, based on surveys completed by citizen volunteers, came just under a week before World Happiness Day on March 20, when the UN declared to recognize '' the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations inthe lives of human beings around the world and the importance of their recognition in public policy objectives''

1.What is the most significant finding of the report?

A.That immigrants are different from residents in the country.

B.That immigrants and locals feel the similar level of happiness.

C.That immigrants become happy when they leave the country.

D.That immigrants come from countries with different levels of happiness.

2.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?

A.Happiness is no less important than any other aspect in life.

B.People’s happiness and well-being should be considered when it comes to policy-making.

C.The happiness report came under a week before World Happiness Day.

D.What the UN declared was beneficial to all human beings.

3.What is the best title of the passage?

A.World Happiness Day. B.Happiness — forever pursuit.

C.The 2018 World Happiness Report. D.What's your happiness index?

On the tenth anniversary of my father's death, I awoke to loud fire alarms at 3:30 a.m. Alexis, my older daughter, was standing in the hallway with her cell phone and a blanket wrapped around her younger sister, Sierra. We ran down the stairs to the main floor. The girls stood by the front door while I checked for the cause of the alarms. When I opened the door to my living room, I could see the carpets were smoking heavily. My house was really on fire.

I shouted to the girls, “Get out! The house is on fire!” They turned and ran out the front door, followed by me. Then we ran through the woods to our neighbor's house. I knocked on my neighbor's front door as a police cars passed by.

Later, I was told that it took the firemen a long time to put out the fire. Standing outside my burned house the next day, I got caught up in lots of questions. I had no cash or bank cards. How was going to pay for anything? Where would we live? What would happen to my house now? I didn't even know where to start. Luckily, our community helped us a lot.

The fire burned almost everything, but I still decided to visit our burned house to search through the ruins. It's interesting how you learn what really matters to you in those conditions. I found myself primarily searching for my father's watch. I also found other treasures as I searched for his watch, including the ring my mom gave me when I left for college, a watch my grandmother gave me for high school graduation, and my daughter's unworn dress, which was ruined. I found the last shirt my father had worm before his hospital stay. We had taken a trip after his second course of chemo (化疗). It was the last vacation we would take before his death. At that moment, I felt differently about the fire.

In many cultures, small talk is a big deal. Although it may seem like a pointless conversation to pass the time or avoid awkward silence, 1.

According to US inspirational speaker Melissa Wadsworth, “Small talk is about tapping into possibilities.” Having good small talk skills is the best way to meet new people, which can lead to friendships, jobs, or other goals. 2. It makes you consider what another person feels or thinks. These advantages can do us good.

If small talk is so important, how do you do it? What's the best way to break the ice and start talking to people? Well, some of the most common topics include the weather, hobbies, work, family and travel. 3.

4. For example, you can talk to your schoolmates about your classes or that teacher who drives everyone crazy. If you're at a party, you might comment on the snacks, music, or the number of people there. If you're lucky, you might have a friend introducing you to others fist to help you start a conversation.

5. But that's OK! Everyone has this problem when he/ she meets new people. Wadsworth has the best advice for this: approach the conversation excited about the friendship, the good laugh, the fascinating story, the job opportunity, the date, the joy.

A. Sometimes, it seems a bit difficult to start a conversation with a stranger.

B. More importantly, small talk is the first step for bonding with other people.

C. it is very important for communicating and bonding with others.

D. Another way to start small talk is to comment on your surroundings.

E. Besides, small talk can improve brainpower by encouraging empathy (共鸣).

F. it is a waste of time and energy to talk with others.

G. They are great for small talk because it is easy for people to talk about them.

Every time you use a tea bag, you could be absorbing billions of microplastic and nanoplastic particles (纳米塑料颗粒). That's the conclusion of researchers at McGill University in Montreal.

The research centred on four different types of tea bags, of the kind recently preferred by some premium (优质的) brands. Having been emptied of the tea itself, the bags were placed in water heated to 95.

Researchers were surprised to find each bag released around 11.6 billion microplastics and a further 3.1 billion even smaller nanoplastics. These levels were, says the report, “thousands of times higher than plastic amounts previously reported in other foods.”

The researchers believe that the tea bags send so many microplastics because they are heated close to boiling point. And the researchers exposed water fleas (水蚤) to water containing varying concentrations of microplatics. While the animals did not die, they did display some abnormalities (畸形) that could suggest the microplastics were having a toxic (毒的) effect on them.

“To date, the health effects of consuming microplastics to humans are still unknown, while the effects observed in the present study and in other animals gave an early warning,” the researchers conclude in their study. “One of the main potential human exposure pathways of microplastics is likely via ingestion, and particle uptake may occur in the digestive tract. Once inside the digestive tract, cellular uptake (细胞吞噬) and subcellular translocation (亚细胞移位) or localization of the ingested particles may occur.”

1.What can we learn from paragraph 1?

A.Drinking tea is unhealthy for you.

B.Using tea bags probably takes in plastic grains.

C.People should often change the tea bags.

D.A tea bag is made up of microplastics and nanoplastic particles.

2.What do we know about the report in the passage?

A.The hot water can reduce more plastic particles.

B.The tea bags contain higher amount of plastics than everything.

C.The plastic particles exist in many other foods too.

D.The food industry has been greatly polluted now.

3.Why did the water fleas display some abnormalities?

A.They were poisoned by plastics.

B.They were not used to being exposed to hot water.

C.The water was heated close to boiling point.

D.They were put into different teas.

4.What's the purpose of the passage?

A.To introduce the study of microplastic and nanoplastic.

B.To tell us the contents of tea bags.

C.To explain the latest findings in plastic.

D.To inform us of the potential danger of using tea bags.

There is no shortage of studies that prove that parents- meaning mom and dad - make a difference. In fact, the more parents are involved (参与), the better the kids do. Unfortunately, far too many schools use the word “parents” as a synonym for “moms”.

Ignoring dads this way does more damage than simply short-changing (亏待) our children. Need proof?

When dads get involved, they are sending a clear message that they care about their kids and value education. Their children, in turn...

●Have better problem - solving skills, are more persistent and more confident, and are more interested in exploring the world around them.

●Tend to do better on standardized tests, have better math and verbal scores, and score higher on IQ - and other intelligence tests.

●Perform better in school and have more fun in studies. About half of kids with involved dads get mostly A's, compared to only about a third when dads are not involved. In fact, dad's level of involvement is a better predictor than mom's that a child will get top grades.

●Are half as likely to have ever repeated a grade (7 percent vs 15 percent for children of less-involved dads).

Are nearly half as likely to have ever been suspended (10 percent vs 18 percent for kids of less-involved dads) and are obliged to stay at home.

●Are more likely to become responsible adults, have fulfilling careers, and have solid marriages.

Being involved in their children's school helps dads understand that they're just as important in their children's lives as moms are.

Last but not least, schools benefit from father involvement too. Involved parents tend to have a higher opinion of teachers and give them more support. Not surprisingly, teacher enthusiasm is higher and the schools have a better reputation.

1.According to the underlined sentence, if a student gets suspended, he probably will ________.

A.do better in tests B.repeat the same grade

C.continue study D.drop out of school

2.From the passage, which one of the following is the benefit for children if they have more involved dads?

A.They can solve problems better and be more curious.

B.They are more active in many activities.

C.They perform better and most get A's.

D.They have more chance to repeat a grade.

3.What's the best title of this passage?

A.We shouldn't ignore dads. B.Parents help children do better.

C.Dads matter a lot in education. D.Everyone benefits from dads.

We smile because we are happy, and we frown because we are sad. Recent studies suggest that our emotions are driven by their related facial expressions.

This February psychologists at the University of Cardiff in W ales found that people whose ability to frown is lessened by botox injections (肉毒杆菌注射) are happier, on average, than people who can frown. The researchers administered an anxiety and depression questionnaire to 25 females, half of whom had received botox injections to stop frowning. The botox injected people reported feeling happier and less anxious in general.

In a related study from March, scientists at the Technical University of Munich in Germany scanned botox injected people with FMRI machines while asking them to copy angry faces. They found that the botox subjects had much lower activity in the brain circuits (回路) involved in emotional processing and responses - in the amygdala, hypothalamus and other parts of the brain - as compared with controls who had not received treatment.

The concept works the opposite way, too. People who frown during an unpleasant procedure report feeling more pain than those who do not, according to a study published in May 2008 in the Journal of Pain. Researchers applied heat to the forearms of 29 participants, who were asked to either make unhappy, neutral or relaxed faces during the procedure. Those who exhibited negative expressions reported being in more pain than the other two groups.

No one yet knows why our facial expressions influence our emotions as they seem to. The associations in our mind between how we feel and how we react may be so strong that our expressions simply end up strengthen our emotions - there may be no evolutionary reason for the connection. Even so, our faces do seem to communicate our states of mind not only to others but also to ourselves. “I smile, so I must be happy,” Grob says.

1.What can we know about the result of the study from paragraph 2?

A.The ability to frown should be stopped by injection.

B.Less frowns make people happier.

C.Women love to frown and feel sad.

D.Half women have no ability to feel happy.

2.What did scientists do in the related studies?

A.They asked the participants to frown or smile.

B.They copied the expressions of the participants.

C.They asked the participants to stay negative.

D.They exposed the participants to heat.

3.What does the passage talk about?

A.Facial expressions influence our emotions. B.Facial expressions are driven by emotions.

C.Why people feel happy and frown. D.Botox injection is useful and meaningful.

Last year, our school offered optional courses for the students in Senior 2. At the beginning of a term, our teacher introduced several courses to us, included Music Appreciation, Advanced Math, Western Art, and etc. We selected the courses we were liked, filled in the forms, and handing them in. Several days late, the optional courses started. We went into different classroom to begin our study delightful. During the lessons, some of them enjoyed beautiful music, while others learned amazing knowledge in math. Everyone gained which they couldn’t get in the regular lessons. Thanks to the optional courses, we had the opportunities to learn what we were really interested.

In late April 2017, a violent storm swept through the southern United States, 1.(destroy) more than $ 1 billion in property and killing 35 people. But it was 2.wonder that a group of birds sensed the oncoming disaster and left long before the first clouds arrived. A year earlier, a science team had tagged golden-winged warblers () with leg trackers 3.( study) their annual migrations to South America. Two days before the storms 4.(strike), five golden-winged warblers flied away, traveling south to the Florida coast.

It's the first time that the birds which normally migrate with the seasons 5.(observe) to fly away when a big storm hits. The researchers suspect this behavior occurs only when the threat of 6.(injure) outweighs the energy costs of a long trip. But nobody knows 7.the birds guessed the storm's harm and left so soon. 8.( puzzle) by it, the scientists initially reasoned that changes in weather—atmospheric pressure, temperature or wind speed—signaled the upcoming disaster. Yet when they checked weather records, none of these factors waved 9.(significant) before the storm. Instead, the team thinks that the approaching storms created a disorder of infra sounds, low-frequency sound waves, that birds can hear, 10.humans can't.

Learn to Cite Sources (引用资料)

During your university education, you’ll be exposed to ideas and scientific theories of scholars and scientists. Unavoidably, your own ideas will be shaped by the ideas you come across. 1. That means you should go beyond what you learn in your textbooks or in the library. Your original work is the basis for your professor’s evaluation of your performance. Thus, academic honesty is fundamental in your university education. It demands that you cite the source materials you base your own work on. 2.

Correctly citing your sources helps you distinguish your own ideas from those of other scholars. On the readers’ side, it permits a reader to determine the depth of your research. 3. On the contrary, lack of citing will only raise your reader’s doubt.

So you need to learn when to cite and how to provide an adequate or accurate reference list. If you fail to cite your sources, whether deliberately or carelessly, you will be found responsible for plagiarism (抄袭) . 4. If you are not sure, ask your professor for guidance before submitting the paper or report. Keep in mind this general rule: when in doubt, cite!

5. For example, students from East Asia may think that copying directly from sources is the proper way to do research. Students in France, preparing for the final examination, may be encouraged to memorize whole passages and copy them into papers. Those cultural differences can lead to false assumptions about academic expectations in the country you study in.

A. Some university students may cheat in different ways.

B. These include other scholars’ ideas, figures, graphs and so on.

C. The academic challenge you face is to make something original.

D. Often, students want to use others’ opinions to support their own essays.

E. It also allows a reader to appreciate your original contribution to the research.

F. For international students, it is important to know local academic expectations.

G. Not knowing academic regulations is an unacceptable excuse for such behavior.

An international team of researchers from the University of Oxford have found that the way people use the Internet is closely tied to the seasonal movements in the natural world. Their online species searches follow the patterns of seasonal animal migrations (迁徙).

Migratory birds (候鸟) flood back to where they reproduce every spring. That migratory behavior is accompanied by some human behavior. “In English-language Wikipedia (维基百科), the online searches for migratory species tend to increase in spring when those birds arrive in the United States,” said the lead author John Mittermeier.

And not just birds. Mittermeier and his team surveyed nearly 2.5 billion Wikipedia search records, for 32,000 species, across 245 languages. They also saw variable search rates for insects, horsetails and flowering plants. Seasonal trends seemed to be widespread in Wikipedia behavior for many species of plants and animals.

This finding suggests new ways to monitor changes in the world’s biological diversity. It also shows new ways to see how much people care about nature, and which species and areas might be the most effective targets for conservation.

Mittermeier is encouraged by the search results. He commented, “I think there’s a concern among conservationists (生态环境保护者) that people are losing touch with the natural world and that they’re not interacting with native species anymore. And so in that sense, it was really exciting and quite unexpected for me to see people’s Wikipedia interest closely related to changes in nature.”

Richard Grenyer, Associate Professor from the University of Oxford, says search data is useful to conservation biologists, “By using these big data approaches, we can direct our attention towards the difficult questions in modern conservation: which species and areas are changing, and where are the people who care the most and can do the most to help.”

1.What have researchers found about species searches?

A. They strengthen ties among people.

B. They affect the animal movements.

C. They differ in language backgrounds.

D. They reflect animal migration seasons.

2.What is the purpose of writing Paragraph 3?

A. To summarize the research process.

B. To further support the research findings.

C. To show the variety of species searches.

D. To present researchers’ heavy work load.

3.How does Mittermeier feel about the search results?

A. Satisfied with Wikipedia’s service.

B. Worried about Wikipedia behavior.

C. Amazed at people’s care about nature.

D. Sad about people’s not getting close to nature.

4.Why does Richard think such search data is useful?

A. It helps to aim at conservation targets.

B. It increases interest in big data approaches.

C. It keeps track of trends in biologists’work.

D. It pushes people to solve difficult problems.

It’s 3 o’clock and you’ve been hard at work. As you sit at your desk, a strong desire for chocolate overcomes you. You try to busy yourself to make it go away. But it doesn’t. Here is another situation. Perhaps you are not feeling well. The only thing you want to eat is a big bowl of chicken soup, like your mum used to make when you were sick as a child. Food cravings are a strong desire for a specific type of food. And they are normal.

Scientists at the website How Stuff Works compare hunger and cravings (渴望) this way. Hunger is a fairly simple connection between the stomach and the brain. They even call it simply “stomach hunger”. When our stomachs burn up all of the food we have eaten, a hormone (激素) sends a message to one part of the brain for more food, which regulates our most basic body functions such as thirst, hunger and sleep. The brain then produces a chemical to start the appetite and you eat. Hunger is a function of survival.

A craving is more complex. It activates brain areas related to emotion, memory and reward. These are the same areas of the brain activated during drug-craving studies. Because of this, some scientists call food cravings “mind hunger”. People often crave foods that are high in fat and sugar. Foods that are high in fat or high in sugar produce chemicals in the brain. These chemicals give us feelings of pleasure.

In a 2016 study, researchers at Cambridge University found that dieting or restricted eating generally increases the possibility of food cravings. So, the more you deny yourself a food that you want, the more you may crave it. However, fasting (禁食) is a bit different. They found that eating no food at all for a short period of time lessened food cravings.

So, the next time you crave something very specific, know that your brain may be more to blame than your stomach.

1.Which of the following statements is NOT true when “stomach hunger” appears?

A.The part of brain which regulates some functions of our body works.

B.A chemical is produced by the stomach to start the appetite.

C.All the food we have eaten has been exhausted.

D.A hormone delivers a message to the brain for food.

2.What do we learn about food cravings?

A.It means the stomach functions well.

B.It ensures a person survives hunger.

C.It shows food is linked to feelings.

D.It proves the brain decides your appetite.

3.What’s the likely result of dieting?

A.The increase of food desire. B.The decrease of chemicals.

C.The refusal of fat and sugar. D.The disappearance of appetite.

4.What is the best title of this passage?

A.Dieting: It Makes You Crave More

B.Fasting: It Lessens Food Cravings

C.Food Cravings: They are All in Your Brain

D.Hunger: It is a Function of Survival

Buster used to be a lovely dog playing and running on a farm all day before his handler (训练员). His life had a big change after Will’s presence because Will found he did extremely well in sniffing tests. Will thought Buster had a special talent and decided to let him become a member of RAF police working dogs. Buster began working with Flt Sgt Barrow in 2007, and the pair was sent to Afghanistan’s deadly Helmand province. There, Buster saved countless lives by sniffing out explosive devices (IEDs), as well as weapons. He joined his comrades repeatedly on foot patrols hunting Taliban terrorists and tracking down bombs. He also acted as a useful diplomatic tool, due to his friendly approach to local children. The RAF soon had a long train of children in tow, as Buster drew in his crowd and entertained them.

After his glittering service with the RAF, Buster retired in 2011, and died in 2015 at the age of 13 at the home of his handler, in Lincolnshire where he had been enjoying retirement with his handler Will, his wife Tracy and their two dogs who will inherit their father’s career.

Over the course of his career, Buster is thought to have saved more than 1,000 lives. He also helped patrol British bases and searched vehicles at check points, and upon retirement was made the official RAF Police mascot (吉祥物). Buster’s brave exploits were even documented in Flt Sgt Barrow’s book, which was published in January and soon became a best-selling one.

Before I started my winter holiday last year, I made a thoroughly plan. I make a list of what I should do during the holiday. Then I put them up on the wall in the room. Whenever I wanted to play with the mobile phone like I had done before, it reminded me to do what I supposed to do. As a result of, I spent a meaningful winter holiday. I finished my homeworks on time, read four novels or learned how to skate.

Later, I'm always convinced that take action is more important than making plans. Only by taking action can we get which we want.

If you've been feeling a lot sleepy in your daily life, here are some tips to picking up your energy levels. But first, you should make sure if you're experiencing some serious illnesses. 1., keep these tips in mind.

The first recommendation is to exercise. Although it may seem difficult to work out when you're tired, it turns out that physical activity can actually give you more energy. The second thing to work on is to go to sleep early enough to get a full night's sleep, preferably so that you wake up naturally without the need for your alarm. 2.. Thus, another useful tip is to take a nap during the afternoon. Naps can restore your mind and body without taking up too much time, regaining your energy and raising working efficiency. The best length of time for a nap is about 20 minutes. Shorter, and you won't get much out of it. 3. .

4.. Drinking plenty of water and fluids throughout the day is one important way to stay energized, since dehydration (脱水)leaves us in low sprits. Some experts say that eating smaller meals more often throughout the day can help maintain energy and balance blood sugar levels. Be aware also that people who are overweight are more likely to experience tiredness easily. 5. , reducing extra weight could help you gain more energy.

A. If you're overweight

B. If you feel uncomfortable

C. As you know, it is quite a good habit

D. However, this goal is hard to achieve in practice

E. longer, and you may find it harder to sleep at night

F. If you're otherwise healthy but just need some extra energy

G. Other ways to increase energy involve our diet and consumption

The royal family is filled with rules, and one in particular might explain why Princess Charlotte is a princess, but her kids likely won't be.

When it comes to the British royal family, one thing is almost always true: they have a pretty confusing set of official rules and protocols. For instance, the royal family doesn't have a last name. And don't forget the fact that Queen Elizabeth celebrates two birthdays every year.

If your head isn't swimming yet, consider the tradition of royal titles. As a British custom, only the daughter of a prince or a prince's wife may be considered a formal "princess". The latter applies to Kate, who is both a princess and the Duchess of Cambridge thanks to her marriage to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. And their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, also bear official royal titles because their father is Prince William.

However, while Prince George's future children will also carry their father's royal status, any children that Princess Charlotte has will not automatically be considered princes or princesses. Why? Royal custom dictates that royal titles are passed down via sons, but not daughters.

"Royal titles are inherited through sons, so if Princess Charlotte has children they would not automatically inherit the titles (his or her royal highness) HRH, Prince, or Princess," Lucy Hume, associate director of etiquette experts Debrett's, told Town& Country.

Of course, exceptions can (and will!) be made. (Learn about every time the British royal family broke their own protocol.) The Queen has offered HRH status to other royal offspring in the past, including the children of Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Anne. Although Princess Anne and her husband, Captain Phillips, declined, perhaps Princess Charlotte will be extended the same offer when her own children are born.

1.What’s the meaning of the underlined word “protocols” in the second paragraph?

A.Promise. B.Behavior.

C.Manners. D.Connection.

2.What kind of child is regarded as "princess"?

A.The son of a princess. B.The daughter of a prince.

C.The daughter of a princess. D.The wife of a king.

3.Who is Charlotte's father?

A.Prince George. B.Elizabeth.

C.Prince William. D.Captain Philips.

4.What does the last paragraph mainly tell us?

A.Any person can break traditional rules.

B.Not every person must obey traditional rules.

C.Any British royal family member has their own title.

D.Maybe the British royal family will break their own rules.

Space Hotel Promises Guests A Truly Out-Of-This-World Vacation

Looking for a true out-of-this-world vacation? Then you are in luck! On Thursday, Aprils, Texas-based start-up Orion Span announced they were taking reservations for Aurora (极光)Station, the world's first luxury hotel in space, which is expected to launch in 2021 and begin welcoming visitors by 2022.

The pill-shaped space station, which begins construction in 2019, will measure 43.5 feet long and 14.1 feet wide-about the size of a large private jet’s cabin-when completed. It will accommodate four guests in two private suites and two crew members, most likely former astronauts. Hovering about 200 miles above Earth, Aurora Station will circle the planet once every 90 minutes, enabling guests to enjoy 16 spectacular sunrises and sunsets daily, as well as scores of the breathtaking northern and southern auroras that the hotel is named after.

While admiring the beauty of our planet, tourists can eat non-astronaut food and drinks or entertain themselves with playing cards. Those hoping to do something more worthwhile will be able to engage in astronaut-like experiments such as growing food in a special environment. The Wi-Fi enabled spacecraft will make it easy for guests to share their experiences with friends and family members on Earth. At the end of the week and half-long vacation, returning guests will be treated to a special "hero's welcome", similar to the one experienced by astronauts returning from a real mission.

Before the once-in-a-lifetime trip, guests will have to undergo the three-month-long special training learning how to move in a weightless environment, along with the basics of spaceflight and orbital mechanics. Also, before you start packing your bags, you will have to pay $9.5 million for the 12-day round-trip vacation.

While several companies are planning to build hotels in space, Orion Span hopes to transform sections of used rockets floating in space into hotel rooms, instead of crowding the already messy skies with additional man-made objects.

1.What can be learnt about Aurora Station?

A.People can visit it now.

B.It’s construction will last for about 5 years.

C.It can only hold four people in this station.

D.It looks like a pill with the size of a small plane.

2.Why is the station named Aurora Station?

A.Because guests can enjoy spectacular auroras of the Earth.

B.Because the station will give off auroras while travelling.

C.Because the station will run around the auroras of the Earth.

D.Because the hotel is lit up by the auroras of the Earth.

3.What can guests do in a space hotel?

A.Stay there as long as they like. B.Cook meals like they are at home.

C.Communicate with their family. D.Receive welcome as a real hero.

4.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?

A.There is little room for people to live on the earth.

B.Too many space crafts have aroused people's concern.

C.Space hotels will be necessary in the near future.

D.Used rockets floating in space are easy to be recycled.
